Whistler Alpine Meadows Location

Whistler Alpine Meadows lays approximately 4 kms or a five minute drive away from the central Village area. For those travelling without a vehicle, bus service runs regularly throughout the year from early morning to late at night. Transfer fares are inexpensive at roughly $2/adult (as of September, 2009).

If you’re looking to squeeze in a little exercise, why not walk, run, rollerblade or bike along the Valley Trail? This paved, two-lane path runs through all the main areas of Whistler from Emerald Estates (north of Alpine Meadows) to Spring Creek (south of Whistler Creekside).

Activities, Amenities and Services

Alpine Meadows is known as the laid-back, residential neighbourhood in Whistler. It’s a great place to live like the locals and surround yourself in the natural splendour of the mountain.

Although the area does not offer the same dining, nightlife and shopping outlets as the Village, it does include one of Whistler’s biggest and most spectacular fitness complexes at the Meadow Park Sports Centre. A common exercise facility for both locals and visitors, the sports centre features an NHL-sized ice rink, a 4,500 square-foot fitness centre, fitness studio, 2 squash courts, a 25-metre swimming pool, leisure pool, hot tub, stream room and sauna.

Other interesting Alpine Meadows sites include:

  • Meadow Park- with picnic tables, a playground, tennis/basketball courts and baseball diamonds, this is a great destination for families during the warmer months
  • Alpine Meadows Market- pick up groceries and other foodstuff here
  • Edgewater Restaurant- fine dining amid spectacular alpine views*closed to the public until May 2010
  • Bean Around the World- laid back café with casual dining and snacks

Nervous about joining my college's alpine ski team?

I've never skied in my life, even though I live in Colorado. Since I am starting college, I want to try new things and join a team. [I love seeing teams work together. It's a thing of mine] Anyway....I am super nervous/scared that I am just going to SUCK the entire time.
It is competitive

skiing competitivly with no expirience is bad they will be set on hills that you probably could not even get down let alone race down. I would learn how to ski before jumping into a race program. It took me 5 year to be ablee to get down the hills that you will be racing on.
