Power an 8-volt camera with a 9-volt battery?
I bought an 8 volt mini CMOS camera, and it only came with a wall charger. I want to power it using a 9 volt battery. Is this possible? Do i need resistors? Could i just split open the power cable from the camera and hook up the battery clip to it? Please help!

Here's the deal. 110v wall power can actually vary from as low as 90v up to possibly 130v. Which means the 8v can actually vary by as much as 6.5v ~ 9.5v. This has been normal throughout history. And for that reason, electronic equipment is designed with voltage regulators inside. So, yes, you are safe using a 9v battery. Getting toward the high end, so don't exceed that.
Your biggest problem is not the battery voltage, but the current demand. If it's low, no big deal, but if it's quite high, you may end up going through a lot of batteries. A standard industrial 9v battery will last maybe between an hour to four hours, depending on whether your camera draws 100 ma or 500 ma.
