Why does my Comcast cable box provide a mono signal when connected to a tv or dvd/vcr?
If the connection is made directly from the wall box to the tv or dvd/vcr the signal is in stereo, but somehow the cable box alters the signal. Using the direct connection method (bypassing the cable box) is ok only for channels 1 to 99. To view premium channels, and those in HD, the cable box must be used, but the sound is in mono.
Your Cable Box should be in Stereo unless and Older Unit.
It is Possible it may need RCA Cables connected from
the Left & Right Jacks on the back of the Box to Your TV
or Stereo for the Stereo Sound. How Old is Your Cable
Box and consult any Manual if You have or contact
Comcast if You can't reslove this Issue. maybe they can
give a Newer Converter Box that is in Stereo. Is their a
Stereo Sound Balance or Output level Control inside the
Setting of Your Box, on Your Remote click Setting to the
Audio Level to Maximum or set the Balance to the Center
