DLSR lens queries. Using a non auto focus lens and using 2x converters?
I was wondering how much of a factor it is choosing a non auto-focus lens as they are a lot cheaper. Also I heard that 2x converters for lenses disrupt the quality of lenses of 200mm and above, i was wondering how much quality do you lose?

I would recommend getting a auto-focus lens. I use both auto and manual lenses and I just find the manuals to be much slower and more annoying. If you plan on shooting anything that is moving or that is action, do not get a manual lens.
When using a manual it is often very easy to miss a shot by incorrectly focusing, especially when extended on a zoom lens. Often you will not notice on the camera but when blown up on a computer, the image can be out of focus.
When shooting on a manual I also often find that it take me as much as two times as long to get the same shot..
If you are a bit of a beginner, you really should not get a manual lens. It is just one more thing to learn and think about.
That is just my opinion.
