The End of High Street Shopping?
X-mas Boom? More like Christmas time Bust!
T'was the season to get jolly for a lot of struggling retailers. Through the multi national companies to the small, independent gift shop owners - all rubbed their hands throughout this festive season hoping that X-mas Gifts galore would certainly be purchased.
Christmas time is usually a make or break time for a lot of business'. It holds hope that enough money could beproduced to see the business past the dry periods of the season, help to pay off staggering bills and debts, and therefore the extra capital could possibly be utilized to expand the stock. However for a lot of business' this Xmas was a Scrooge affair as the sale of X-mas Gifts plummeted and a shortage of spending crushed a number of our Titan stores.
HMV have announced a 13.6 percent drop in sales through the 5 week Christmas time period. This has resulted in an announcement they need to close over 40 stores country wide. This really is shocking when considering that their biggest rival went under a couple of years ago and HMV stands out as the sole survivor of the DVD/CD high street trade.
Shares in Marks and Spencer's have fallen as a result of Christmas time sales not meeting full expectations. Sales are up but only by 0.8 percent on last year. Throughout this year, M&S have opened more stores and the sales were predicted for being greater. Will this result in closure of stores? This company has risen like a phoenix from your ashes so may times that no one knows what's in store for this mega high street chain.
Already we're seeing the closure of the smaller more independent shops. Some companies are down sizing their premises just to stay afloat. Vulgar bright clearance banners seem to get part of the high street as do derelict shops.
Will the day come where we are no longer able to view our purchases in a tangible way? The high-street and a real shopping experience may well become a myth - a thing within the past; a tale you will tell to your grand children. Rather, your shopping experiences will become virtual - completed on line. Maybe technology will develop so that we are able to see pour products on line and in 3D? This may seem a bridge too far, if the retail giants are falling, what chance do the smaller stores have of survival?
Christmas time gift sales have fallen short of most but not all expectations. Pandora's jewellery store is having a fantastic year and therefore the company is now valued at 5 billion dollars. However there are questions and negative predictions within the longevity in the company. For now though, we're hanging on to it as one of this Christmas' few successes.

i have got a sony ericsson walkman phone and it had a 2 mega pixel camera. Just wondering what the highest mega pixel camera is on a phone ?
so far the newest phones like Nokia N95, Samsung U900 and the LG viewty have 5mp cameras...........
some even are coming up with 3 or 4x inbuilt optical zoom with the lenses.......
