Which fuse is best for sound system?
I have a 2004 chevy trailblazer and I recently put in a new sound system. So I had to remote wire from the cd player to the fuse box to get it power, and naturally I chose the radio fuse. But the cd player and the amp stay on when i turn the car off. I'm guessing its because the door chimes and lights run off that fuse as well. So which Fuse should I remote wire to so that the cd player and amp will power down with the car?
You might have a hard time finding a fuse that works the way you want in a Trailblazer. An easier option is to drop the knee panel and find the harness going to the ignition switch. You can connect your head unit's accessory power wire to the thick brown wire in the ignition switch harness.
Otherwise, you can purchase one of the adapter modules that keeps the warning chimes working when the factory radio is removed; these adapters typically have an output for the new head unit's accessory power.
