How to enable ICMP traffic from protected Secure Net clients
It is very important to enable the ICMP traffic message from the protected and secured net clients using the external clients and hosts using the Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2006 and Microsoft ISA Server 2004.
Procedure to enable IP routing in ISA Server 2004:
- First, you need to click on the Start, point the pointer to the Programs, and then to Microsoft ISA Server after which a popup will be popping up on the screen after which you need to select ISA Server Management.
- Now, in the ISA Server Management console tree, you need to extend the option which is called as Server Name, where Server Name is the name of ISA Server which allows you to configure the server. Please note that, for ISA Server 2004, Enterprise Edition, you will need to expand Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2004, after which you need to expand Arrays, and then expand Array_Name.
- Now, Expand Configuration, and then click on General.
- In the details pane, click on the Define IP Preferences under Additional Security Policy.
- In IP Preferences, click the IP Routing tab.
- Make sure that the Enable IP routing check box is selected, and then click OK. Please note that by default, Enable IP routing check box is selected.
Procedure to enable IP routing in ISA Server 2006:
- Click on Start, point to All Programs, then to Microsoft ISA Server, and simply click on the ISA Server Management.
- Now, expand the Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2006, expand Server _Name, expand Configuration, and then expand General. Please note that for ISA Server 2006 Enterprise Edition, expand Microsoft Internet Security and Acceleration Server 2006, expand Arrays, expand Array_Name, and then expand Configuration.
- In the details pane, you will need to point and click Configure IP Protection parameters.
- Here you need to click on the IP Routing tab, then click to select the Enable IP routing check box, and then simply you need to click on OK option.
