Some have decided to purchase used metal detectors for sale since majority of the brand new metal detectors today are far too expensive. In fact, a DFX metal detector that is manufactured and distributed by White's is usually purchased around one thousand dollars. For sure, people would not want to purchase a metal detector for that costly amount, when they can actually get the very same metal detector for half the price, and sometimes even less than half.
In fact, from one thousand dollars, they can spend only a couple hundred dollars. This is such a huge advantage for those who have decided to turn to metal detecting as a new hobby. At less than half of the usual price, they can now purchase metal detectors of the biggest brands, such as Bounty Hunter, Minelab, Fisher, Tesoro, Garrett, White's, and Ground Hawk.
Just because some metal detectors are tagged as used, this does not mean that their quality is of any less. In fact, there are even some times when the used metal detectors for sale end up being much more effective as compared to the newer ones. As a beginner, what would be a good metal detector to choose?
I've done a bit of research and concluded that it shouldn't be a chinese one, and should cost at least £250 to ensure quality. I've seen some positive reviews on the Tesoro Cibola (and it's in my budget of £275), but a lot of people on youtube seem to use Minelabs too. Any advice would be appreciated, cheers.
It depends both on the type of sites you intend to hunt and how committed you are to the hobby. I know you're just starting out, but keep in mind, it's an addicting hobby to some, like me for instance.
Some areas have high ground mineralization and Minelabs work well there. Tesoro makes great detectors and with a lifetime warranty it could be a good choice for you.
I use a Fisher F75 and I love it. It's got a lot of power, light weight, easy to change modes, number of tones, sensitivity and ground balance on the fly as needed. Plus I get around 40 hrs of use out of 4AA batteries.
I prefer to have more info on my target before I dig so I'm a big fan of VDI numbers, depth info and tone ID. You'll dig a lot less trash plus it makes it a little more fun trying to guess what you're about to dig up.
If I had to choose just one of the options on any detector it would be Target Tone ID. After you hone in on the good tones it'll stop you in your tracks even when it's surrounded by trash.
Stop into any of the popular forums and find out more from people in your area before you make your decision. Of course everyone has their own opinion on what works best, but it will help you narrow it down to a few models. Take your time with your decision so you have no buyers remorse.
