Postal Rules for Postcards
One of the benefits of having a postcard printing project in your marketing arsenal is its low postal rates and fees. Knowing the rules of posting and mailing your postcard printing project to your target clients will do you a world of good especially when you need to incorporate your postal rule knowledge to maximize your postcard printing design. Your postcard printing design can affect your mailing costs from the handling charges and postage, to the acceptance of your postcard printing pieces.
Here are a few basic rules you need to know to help you stay within the range of a low cost postcard printing design for your business:
Postage Rule #1: Minimum and maximum allowable size.
The USPS has a minimum allowable postcard printing piece size of 3.5 x 5 inches. Anything below that range will not be mailed.
On the other hand, the maximum allowable size for your postcard printing project is 4.25 x 6 inches. Anything more than that is already considered a letter and would incur a higher postal rate.
Furthermore, a regular postcard printing mail costs not more than 23 cents a piece, and that’s first class.
In Canada, postage costs are grouped into 2 for your postcard printing project – the Short & Long, and the Oversize. The Oversize category gets those postcard printing projects that are over one millimeter of the standard Short & Long size. Hence, postage cost increases.
Postage Rule #2: Minimum and maximum thickness.
The USPS provides that a minimum thickness of .007 inches and a maximum of .25 inches are considered standard mailing for postcard printing pieces. Any postcard printing item less than that is considered non-mailable and will not be delivered by USPS. Any postcard printing piece with more than the maximum thickness is considered a parcel, which of course, has a much higher postal rate.
The Canadian Post, on the contrary, requires your postcard printing pieces (those considered in the Short & Long category) to have a maximum thickness of 3/16” or 5 millimeters. Anything more than that is placed in the Oversize category which will incur higher postal costs.
In addition, Canadian Post requires Short & Long postcard printing pieces to have a maximum weight of 100 grams. And even if the size fits that of the Short & Long standard, if it weighs more than 100 grams, it is placed under the Oversize group.
When creating your postcard printing design, remember to include in your planning the postal rates and fees. This will help you later on to work on your postcard printing project according to your budget and means.

How can I buy a spare Indicator weight of Presto pressure cooker model 706B. ?
I want their contact e-mail or postal address. The midland metal spinning company ltd.,Wolverhampton,England are the manufacturers.
I know that indicator weights can often be replaced by going directly to the company. Try searching online. Much depends on how old the pressure cooker is and if parts are still available. I wish you luck. It's frustrating to have a perfectly good pressure cooker that you can't use!
